Programme with

Lama Thakpe

It is a great honour to announce that Lama Thakpe from Jangchub Choeling Monastery in Pokhara, Nepal will visit Karma Shedrup Choeling this spring and summer.

The following programme consists of two different meditation courses, which Lama Thakpe will teach in English. Furthermore anybody, who wishes to do so, may do retreats at the center during the time of Lama Thakpe’s stay. This is indeed a very wonderful and unique opportunity to focus on your own practice, whilst being able to receive guidance and to ask questions regarding your meditation practice.

Guru yoga meditation with Lama Thapke

The Guru is a manifestation of all buddhas – like all buddhas are manifestations of the Guru. When we practice Guru yoga meditation we connect with the enlightened mind of the Guru and through the Guru we become aware of our own absolute buddha nature.

When the Guru’s enlightened mindstream meets the mind of the practitioner in meditation, realizations can arise quite naturally.

Lama Thapke will give teachings and explanations on how to practice Guru yoga. He will go through one or more of the following Guru yogas on the 2nd, 15th and 16th Karmapa.

The meditation course is for everyone regardless of prior experience with any Guru yoga.

Refuge with Lama Thapke

When we take buddhist refuge, it means that we embark on the path shown by the Buddha.

We decide to no longer take refuge in outer worldly phenomena (samsara) in search of a lasting happiness because we understand its impermanent nature and causes of suffering.

Instead we begin to turn our minds towards the dharma and the teachings of the Buddha. This is our only refuge from now on - the path which will lead us to uncover our own inherent buddha nature and the only lasting happiness to be found.

Taking refuge is the starting point and foundation for all buddhist practice.

Though the refuge ceremony marks the official commitment to become a buddhist - as a practicing buddhist you will continue to work with taking buddhist refuge every day.

Lama Thapke will inspire us with teachings and practice on refuge and prostrations. The course is for everyone interested in what it means to take buddhist refuge - whether as newcomers to buddhism or more experienced practitioners wishing to bring inspiration to their practice.
