The Small Way– Hinayana
Avoiding harm. Methods to avoid one’s own suffering.

The Four Noble Truths

  1. Conditioned existence is suffering. Sickness, old age, death and loss control us.

  2. Suffering has a cause. We have been doing, thinking and saying things based on confusion and disturbing emotions.

  3. Suffering has an end. Enlightenment is the continuous experience of highest truth and joy. Buddhahood.

  4. The way to the end of suffering. 84,000 teachings and practice of meditation.

The Four Motivating Thoughts

  1. Precious opportunity: Few people ever meet Diamond Way teachings and even fewer are able to use them.

  2. Impermanence: Only the unlimited clear space of mind is lasting ,and it is uncertain how long conditions will remain for recognizing it.

  3. Causality: Former thoughts, words and actions became our present state, and right now we are sowing the seeds for our future.

  4. The reason for working with mind: Enlightenment is highest bliss; we cannot benefit others while confused or disturbed.
